Our Mission is to show everyone that esotericism is in all our lives everywhere we look. Every blade of grass has a purpose, as does every grain of sand and indeed every single human being.
We strive to make esoteric education available to every person of every background, colour, age or creed in order to live their best version of them self.

The name The House of Serendipity was chosen with care, capturing the heart of what the Tradition represents. “Serendipity” speaks to the joy of discovering something precious in the most unexpected places—a reflection of the magical journey that each seeker embarks upon within the House.
The choice of “House” over the traditional “Temple” was deliberate. It embodies warmth, connection, and belonging—a sacred home where practitioners are not just students, but family. Over time, this intention has blossomed into reality, as the House has become a sanctuary of learning, growth, and shared magic.
When the Tradition was reimagined in 2024 and the word “Academy” was added, this too was intentional. It reflected the creation of a space where students could study the full breadth of the Craft and esoteric knowledge, from practical skills to deeper mystical teachings, allowing them to learn, grow, and explore every aspect of the Tradition.

The House of Serendipity is a Tradition within the religion of Witchcraft, recognized as an eclectic branch of neo-paganism. It was founded in 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa, by Càrmicca Ajudanté, following guidance from his mentor and teacher, the Rt. Rev. Arch Priestess Donna Darkwolf Vos.
Part of its founding vision came from a dissatisfaction with the traditional 12-module degree system that many covens in South Africa followed at the time. That system, while widespread, offered little depth and often left students with more questions than answers. The House of Serendipity challenged this by creating something entirely new: a comprehensive system of 48 modules covering the first year/degree alone. This unique and pioneering approach gave students detailed, structured, and well-rounded training that had never before been available in South Africa, setting the House apart from the beginning. Donna Darkwolf Vos personally reviewed and approved these lessons, ensuring that the new system reflected both integrity and excellence.
The original intention of the Tradition was also to provide a space free from the politics and divisions that were rife in the local pagan community. With Donna Darkwolf Vos’s wisdom and guidance, the foundation of the House was shaped. Through her mentorship, Càrmicca Ajudanté was able to establish not only a strong spiritual structure but also a path that would endure beyond its first circle.
On 31 August 2012, under the light of a Blue Moon, The House of Serendipity was formally opened. The ceremony was attended by a gathering of seekers and practitioners, marking the beginning of a journey that would span both years and transformations. Salomé Joubert was honored with the title of Mother Priestess of The House of Serendipity, a title bestowed by Donna Darkwolf Vos herself, who is widely regarded as the Mother of Paganism in South Africa.
In 2024, The House of Serendipity was restructured and reimagined as The House of Serendipity Academy. Embracing modern times, the Academy expanded its reach by offering online studies and training to students across South Africa. Though many students remain solitary practitioners in their own spaces, together they still form a united coven—connected in spirit and practice, even across distance. All of the original lessons were carefully rewritten and reconstructed by Càrmicca Ajudanté, blending the original spirit of the Tradition with contemporary needs. Under this new formation, the Academy offers a variety of paths of study, including the Tarot Master’s Degree, Reiki training, Healing, Crystal Studies, and more.
That same year, the Academy also celebrated the ordination of its first Elder since its founding in 2013, a significant milestone that marked the growth, maturity, and living continuity of the Tradition.
As of 2025, The House of Serendipity Academy has opened its doors to students worldwide, carrying the light of Serendipity across the globe. What began as a single coven in Cape Town has blossomed into an international fellowship—woven together by shared teachings, spiritual connection, and the vision of a Witchcraft Tradition rooted in both ancient wisdom and modern innovation.
Today, The House of Serendipity stands as both a legacy and a living Tradition—rooted in the wisdom of its beginnings, yet evolving to meet the needs of new generations of seekers.
